Curbed's Spring new development roundup: Steinway & Graham

A ground-up rental building steps from the Steinway Street F/M/R stop will welcome renters come April. The building’s 57 studio to three-bedroom apartments will come with access to fancy amenities like a garage with Tesla charging stations, a gym with a Peloton bike, and a 3,000-square-foot landscaped roof deck. Pricing has yet to be released, as do more details about the interiors. We Heart Astoria: Rioult Moving to Kaufman Arts District

While the news was reported over a year ago by the Wall Street Journal (see relevant article clip), it’s worth reminding you that Rioult Dance NY is moving to a new building at 34-01 Steinway Street (AKA 34-11 Steinway Street), the northeastern corner of the Kaufman Arts District. It’s nearest neighbors are MOMI and the Kaufman Astoria Studios. This is a great addition to the District, bringing a seasoned dance company to the neighborhood later this summer. QNS: Rioult Dance Opens

RIOULT Dance Center will officially open its doors to the Astoria community on Oct.4. Open houses will be held on Oct. 6 and 13.

Last year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the 24-year-old RIOULT Dance NY would move from its location in Manhattan to Queens. The company’s founder, Pascal Rioult, signed a 15-year lease for the new 11,000-square-foot 34-01 Steinway St. location. Continue to full article…

NY Times: Planned Parenthood Opens in LIC

In many places around the nation, it is a dark time for Planned Parenthood.

In Long Island City, Queens, however, Planned Parenthood has created a bright new world: a health center where daylight streams in through large windows and skylights, where walls are painted in Easter-egg pastels, where a cheerful sign tells clients and patients that they are Welcome, Bienvenido, Byenveni, Malugod na pagtanggap, Добро пожаловать and 환영.
